The Equal Opportunities Policy (also called the Equality and Diversity Policy) has been updated in accordance with current best practice. It has been amended to provide specific protection to the Company in respect of the Age Discrimination Regulations that apply from 1st October 2006. This Equal Opportunities Policy sets out the Company's objective to maintain operational standards so that all its employees and employment applicants are treated equally irrespective of race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, gender reassignment, marital status or ethnic origin.
The update follows ACAS guidelines to comply with the Age Discrimination Regulations, and fulfils requirements previously required by the Sex, Race and Disability Discrimination Acts and other relevant Regulations.
Employees are instructed that all personnel have responsibility for the complying with the Equal Opportunities Policy and to ensure that it is applied to all aspects of employment from recruitment, training, and development to promotion and redundancy; it also applies to customers, suppliers and the general public.
The Policy also refers to the role of the company's Disciplinary Rules and Grievance Procedure in dealing with discrimination.
All other documents such as the Recruitment Policy, Job Application Forms, Monitoring Forms, and Harassment Policy, Disciplinary Policy etc. have also been updated in respect of the Age Discrimination Regulations.
