Document Description

This Shift Work Employment Contract is designed for use by businesses which, by nature of their industry or need to remain competitive, employ people to work shifts and keep their business operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This Shift Work Employment Contract has been updated to comply with the changes introduced on 1st April 2009, particularly, concerning the increase in the statutory holiday entitlement and payment in lieu of holiday. From 1st April 2009 statutory holiday entitlement increases to 28 days from 24 days, including public and bank holidays. In relation to payment in lieu of holiday, from 1st April 2009 it is no longer possible to pay employees in lieu of them taking their full statutory holiday entitlement. However, payment in lieu of holiday above the statutory entitlement is allowed and a new clause has been included in the contract to reflect the change. This Shift Work contract allows for flexibility and alteration of shift work patterns, and space has been left for the specific details of the shift work patterns to be inserted according to business’ specific needs. The employment contract complies with all of the necessary employment law and details employee’s rights and company obligations, therefore minimising the risk that an employer will be found to have breached any of those rights or obligations.
